It is designed to trap smaller contaminates after they have been filtered through a pre-filter and a regular HEPA filter. This after filter measures 19.5" x 19.5" x 1 3/4". Because so many particles are being trapped in the filter, the filter must be replaced periodically. For optimum performance, this filter should be replaced every 3 months.
